The longest river in New Zealand, the Waikato River is an integral part of the region, as part of the livelihood of locals, and also drawing visitors to the area.
Boat cruises on the river are available, with afternoon cruises operating daily. A canoe or kayak tour will also give you the opportunity to learn about the history of the river, or alternatively admire it from one of the many riverside walks the region has to offer.
If you are seeking adventure then why not try jet boating, jet skiing, fishing or kayaking on nearby Lake Karapiro, taking in some of the idyllic scenery and landscapes the region has to offer.
